From 1 April 2020 South West Water became the appointed water and wastewater company for the Isles of Scilly. This means that South West Water took responsibility for the provision of water on all inhabited islands on the Isles of Scilly, and for the public sewerage network and treatment on Tresco and St Mary’s.

Investing in our region

We’re investing in a programme of works to improve water and wastewater services on the Isles of Scilly, now and for the longer term. This will allow us to provide wholesome and safe drinking water for everyone on the islands and ensure a plentiful supply of water for the future.

This investment presents a unique opportunity to invest in the local community, environment and to protect public health.

These improvement works will bring water services on the islands in line with standards on mainland UK.

We’re assessing options and we’ll be consulting with local residents as we develop our proposals.

We aim to have these operational for clean water across all islands by late 2026, and late 2027 for wastewater treatment on St Mary’s.

Our proposed programme of investment will be designed to support and enhance the economy of the islands by improving services and the environment.

We’re aware that several properties have their own private water supplies which are not connected to our network. We’re proposing to provide capacity to supply all properties that wish to connect.

If you currently have a private water supply and are interested in connecting to our network, you can find out more.
